Bridgeport Woman's Body Found Near Bronx Cemetery: Police

According to reports, the 53-year-old Connecticut woman had multiple injection sites on her buttocks.

BRONX, NY — A Bridgeport woman has died after her body was discovered near a Bronx cemetery on Tuesday, according to police.

New York City authorities said Maxine Messam, 53, of Bridgeport, was found unconscious and unresponsive near Woodlawn Cemetery, located at 1400 Pelham Pkwy in the Bronx. Two women took her to NYC Health & Hospitals - Jacobi just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Police told News 12 that Messam had multiple injection sites on both sides of her buttocks; however, it's unclear if the injections contributed to her death.

Messam's cause of death remains under investigation, police said.
