Bridgeport has brought about a few famous people.Tom Thumb was one that was born here.BRIDGEPORT had many people that rose to INTERNATIONAL fame.TOM THUMB-was born a dwarf and later became famous.Under the guidance of PT.BARNUM TOM Thumb became famous as well as a really wealthy man.HE married LAVINIA WARREN[1842-1919]TOM THUMB was born here in Bridgeport JANUARY 4 1838.AT the time of his death he was buried here in MOUNTAIN GROVE CEMETERY.P.T.BARNUM recognized TOM THUMB could be a star performer so he thought him to sing and dance for crowds all over the globe as young as he was.TOM THUMB toured the U.S.A. at age 5.HE traveled to EUROPE -got wealthy and very famous.HIS final appearance was in ENGLAND in 1878.TOM THUMB died at age 45 from a stroke.PT.BARNUM had a statue erected in his honor.HE was buried in MOUNTAIN GROVE CEMETARY.THIRTY five years later Lavinia died.She is buried with TOM THUMB.Years later BARNUM died and is buried in MOUNTAIN GROVE CEMETERY as well. Bridgeport had its'share of the rich and famous.
