Christine Rose Joins Board at Goodwill of Western and Northern CT

Fairfield resident with deep retail and service expertise will help steer nonprofit

Bridgeport, Conn. (December 11, 2018) — Today, Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut (GWNC) is announcing a new addition to its board: Christine Pendergast Rose.

As a member of GWNC’s volunteer board of directors, Rose —a Fairfield resident, lifelong volunteer, and former retail executive — will lend her expertise to further the nonprofit’s mission: helping people achieve independence and self-sufficiency through job training and support services.

Rose has deep experience in Connecticut’s retail landscape. She was most recently Regional Director of Visual Merchandising and Display for Jordan Marsh Department Stores in Trumbull, CT, overseeing six full-line department stores. Prior, Rose held merchandising, purchasing, design, and operations roles at other top department stores across the U.S.

Rose also has a long history of service, having volunteered in school and community organizations for decades. Within Fairfield Public Schools, she chaired and expanded the Art in the Classroom program; chaired the PTA Reflections program; served as a CANE and Mill River instructor; coordinated and digitized the Guided Reading Room; and taught for the Above and Beyond afterschool program, among many other commitments. Prior to living in Fairfield, Rose was a resident of Hilshire Village, TX where she served as City Secretary, running elections and legislative meetings.

“I am honored to have been selected to the Board of Directors at Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut,” Rose said. “I have always been impressed with the service Goodwill provides to the community, and I am excited to help continue the vision of strengthening lives of residents around the state.”

William J. Mallin, Chair of GWNC’s Board said he is thrilled to have Christine donate her time and talent to the board. “Her retail acumen, commitment to community service, and compassion will be essential as we continue to serve Connecticut residents and build stronger communities across the state.”

Rose pursues her hobbies with the same devotion she does her service. She holds a private pilot’s license and SCUBA certification, has visited all 50 states and six continents, and is an avid oil painter. She is married with three children, ages 20, 26 and 29.

With Rose’s added leadership, GWNC will continue to support and empower tens of thousands of Connecticut residents each year, through employment opportunities, career coaching, residential support services, and additional programs for people with disabilities and other disadvantages.
