Crowd Of People — Including Children — Struck By Vehicle In Bridgeport

Police said the crash occurred Sunday night on Central Avenue.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A small crowd of people, including four children, were injured when they were struck by a vehicle Sunday night in the 1700 block of Central Avenue in Bridgeport, according to police.

"Early reports indicate that injuries seem to be non-life threatening but involve approximately 5 children and multiple adults," said Scott Appleby, the city's Director of Emergency Management, in a statement. "All parties treated at the scene and/or being transported by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital."

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. Details of the crash were not immediately available, but Bridgeport police, fire and emergency medical personnel all responded to the scene.

"This is an active investigation at this time," Appleby said.
