3 Hospitalized After Explosion, Fire At Facility In Bridgeport
Residents were evacuated and several roads closed due to the explosion and fire, according to officials.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Three people were hospitalized after an explosion and fire at an environmental services facility Friday afternoon in Bridgeport, according to officials.
City officials advised motorists of several road closures in the area of Cross Street in Bridgeport due to the incident.
WFSB 3 reports residents within a two-block radius of the fire were also being evacuated.

City officials are also advised all other residents to shelter in place to avoid smoke exposure.

- Bishop Avenue from Connecticut Avenue to Barnum Avenue
- East Avenue from Bishop Street to Barnum Avenue
- Barnum Avenue from Prince Street to Bishop Avenue, both east and west bound
- Elizabeth Street from Cross Street to Barnum Avenue
- Willow Street from Cross Street to Barnum Avenue
Crews responded around 2 p.m. to multiple 911 calls reporting an explosion and a major fire in the area of Bishop Avenue, East Avenue, and Cross Street. Three people have been hospitalized, according to WFSB.
NBC Connecticut reports fire crews from Stratford and Fairfield also responded to the scene.
Officials confirmed that the fire happened at the Tradebe Environmental Services facility.
"We are cooperating and working closely with first responders and regulators," Rich Bamberger, a spokesperson for Tradebe, said in a statement. "Our prayers are with the three people who were injured, and they are currently being evaluated at a local hospital.”
