The COVID alert is a function of COVIDActNow, a tool that the State of Connecticut Department of Health suggested local municipal health directors monitor as another tool to track community spread of COVID-19.

Director Morrissey acknowledges, “The data from COVIDActNow paints a broad picture of Fairfield County, and we may see the influence of Danbury’s spike in our surrounding towns in the coming days. We must take this seriously now in order to mitigate a surge in Bridgeport. We have had over 4,000 positive cases to date, and recently new cases in individuals under the age of 19 are outpacing other age groups.”

“Bridgeport residents have been diligent in keeping up with safety protocols. We’ve done our best to stay on top of the information and provide it as readily as possible,” stated Mayor Ganim. “So, I’m expecting our residents to stay true form; hear this update as a warning and continue, or return to, extra cautionary measures of wearing masks, washing hands, keeping social distance, and absolutely avoid gatherings.”
