Fairfield Yankees to Play in National Championship: Colorado-Bound, Local Team Prepares for National Title
Fairfield Yankees prepare to take on Euless Texans in Men's DIII National Championship
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – May 26, 2016 – The Fairfield Yankees Rugby Football Club (RFC), Fairfield County’s local men’s rugby team, is heading to the National Championship, said Club President Michael Pappa. The game at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colo. will pit the Euless Texans against the Fairfield Yankees on Sunday, June 5.
“We’ve been working towards this day for over a year,” said David Lyme, head coach of the Fairfield Yankees RFC. “They’ve trained hard, made sacrifices, and pushed each other on and off the field since day one. I have no doubt that the Yankees will come out on top.”
The Yankees blew past their competitors in the muddy Quarter- and Semi-Final matches in Pittsburgh, Pa. last weekend in games against Rocky Gorge Rugby (39-12) and the Bremer County Bucks (45-20). Yankee Outside Center Karl Rempe lead the points against Rocky Gorge with 17 total scored, while a number of players, including Yankee Fly-Half and Co-Captain Matthew Leonard and flanker Rich Park, contributed to the points put up against Bremer County.

For those unable to make it to Colorado to cheer on the Yankees in person, the game will be live-streamed at Anna Liffey’s in Fairfield, Conn. The game will also be live-streamed at USARugbyTV.com. The game is scheduled for a Sunday, June 5, 2016 kickoff at 2 PM ET.
