Former Bassick Coach Elected to State Coaches Hall of Fame

He and nine other individuals will be honored at the 40th annual induction dinner.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A former Bassick High School coach is one of 10 individuals who will be honored at the 40th annual Hall of Fame induction dinner of the Connecticut High School Coaches Association, according to an announcement from the CHSCA.

Edward Michael Faulkner coached girls basketball for 30 years (1978-2008) and softball for 22 years (1986-2008) at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, earning 614 total coaching victories in the two sports.

His girls basketball team won the Class L State championship in 1994 and was a state runner-up twice. They also reached the semifinals three times, won two FCIAC West Division titles and two FCIAC championships (2003-04). The basketball team also reached the FCIAC playoffs 14 times and the state tournament 23 times. Faulkner was selected CHSCA Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 2000 and Connecticut Post Coach of the Year in 2003.

He was also named CHSCA Softball Coach of the Year in 2007 and was given the CIAC Girls Basketball Merit Award in 2015.

Faulkner was inducted into the FCIAC Hall of Fame in 2009 and was FCIAC Committee Chairperson for 10 years. He also coached tennis for four years and boys basketball for one at Bassick.
