FREE Manufacturing Training for Women

Giving women who wish to explore a rewarding career a path to success.

Housatonic Community College (HCC) is offering a free Advanced Manufacturing Bootcamp training course to women interested in the field. The no cost, three-week training program begins March 17, and gives women who wish to explore a rewarding career in the manufacturing industry an initial foundation in these skills.

“Connecticut manufacturers need skilled workers to fill their high-paying jobs, and there simply aren’t enough workers available,” said Kristy Jelenik, Executive Director of Housatonic Community College Foundation. “This absolutely free training provides an interactive experience, explains opportunities in the field and develops a path to success. I encourage anyone who enjoys hands-on, problem-solving activities to take the course.”

Offered just to women, this work readiness training program teaches skills such as blueprint reading and shop math. Additionally, participants gain an understanding of the materials used in manufacturing.

The free training program is made possible, in part, through a grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. This funding will help to train women for well-paid, rewarding jobs and a brighter future.

“Employment is one of the most powerful levers to connect individuals to economic success. We’re excited to be partnering with Housatonic Community College to help connect females to the training and support they need to prepare themselves with skills needed to find meaningful employment in this important sector of our local economy and to set themselves on a path to improve their financial lives and create sustainable career pathways to a better future,” said Bill Tommins, Southern CT President, Bank of America.
