GoFundMe Effort Launched To Aid Bridgeport Mom-Of-5 With Cancer
Shannon Draper, who has five daughters, is battling an aggressive form of biliary duct cancer.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Shannon Draper, a Bridgeport single mother of five girls, is currently battling an aggressive form of biliary duct cancer, and the community is stepping up to help her and her family.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched this week, which as of Friday has raised more than $3,000 toward a goal of $25,000.
Additionally, Helping Hands Outreach, a Bridgeport-based nonprofit, is also assisting the Drapers by collecting items to donate to them, reported News 12 Connecticut.

Draper is home on hospice care; her daughters range in age from 5 months to 18 years old.
"As much as we are praying for a miracle, we are preparing for all possibilities," wrote Jennifer Velazquez, who organized the GoFundMe effort. "Shannon is a single mother of 5 girls ranging from 18 years to 5 months and her family will need all the help they can get in the months and years ahead. Please consider donating to help her family heal and not have to stress about finances during this immensely difficult process."
