GoFundMe Effort Launched To Help Victim Of Workplace Accident In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Tim Bauer, a construction worker who was injured in a workplace accident earlier this month in Bridgeport.

"Tim was operating an excavator while dismantling an old coal-fired plant when a large turbine fell and severely damaged the cab of the machine he was in," Christopher Ryan, who launched the fundraising effort, wrote. "Most of his upper body made it through, but his lower legs and feet were badly injured."

Bauer was reportedly trapped for more than two hours before crews could extricate him from the crushed cab.

"Tim is now facing a left foot amputation, and there may be more procedures ahead depending on how he heals in the coming days," Ryan wrote. "Along with the physical trauma and the uncertainty of his recovery, Tim and Candace are now dealing with time in the hospital, lost income, and mounting medical bills."

As of Tuesday, the campaign had raised more than $12,000 toward a goal of $16,000.

Bauer is a member of the labor union Local 478, which posted about him on its Facebook page.
