I have many fond memories growing up here in BRIDGEPORT.I was born and raised here in THE HOLLOW,LIFE was pretty simple then not complex as it is today.Somehow we've become a different type of society.MOST of all I remember former neighborhood.THE ethnic groups varied and no prejudice then.People respected each other regardless of race ,color, religious affiliations and we had respect for law enforcement. There seemed to be a special bonding among us then.Everyone contributed to the lifeblood of the neighborhood.

I also remember the multiple theaters here BACK IN THE DAY.THE marquees with their glittering lights added to the excitement as we waited to purchase tickets.THE SATURDAY matinees were great. Some of my favorite theaters were THE MAJESTIC,THE LOEWS POLI,THE WARNERS' AND RIVOLI.TODAY the large theater complexes entertain us as well as movies on cable tv which arrived so many years later.OVER the years the old theaters disappeared.

Shopping downtown was another function many enjoyed way before the malls came intp existence downtown was bustling with shoppers.I liked RUDY FRANKS 'RECORD SHOP,H.L.GREENS,SS.KRESGES,SEARS.LEVITTS ,WALGREENS ,READS,HOWLANDS,among others.IT'S sad to think all these great stores have gone never to emerge ever again.OVER the years the malls came along and a new shopping experience emerged, shopping under one roof without worry of the weather.

NOW with the onset of COVID 19 we have again went into a society change.NOW masks are required for disease control.IT is a invisible enemy that came along now and hope it disappears soon so we can return back to how we should be living.ONE day too this era will be documented history but we will never return to BACK IN THE DAY when life had a different feeling to it.
