NO matter where you grew up no doubt you at one time or another saw THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH.THE RINGLING BROS.BARNUM AND BAILEY CIRCUS no doubt played in your state at some point in time.P.T.BARNUM a BRIDGEPORT CT.native helped put this together at about the age of 60.The circus went on from 1871 to 2017.The gentlemen who ran the show actually emerged together in 1919.This was the start of THE RINGLING BROS.BARNUM AND BAILEY CIRCUS.IN 1956 THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH started playing in stadiums and arenas instead of tents.This worked out well for the circus.AS time passed the shows attendance decreased dramatically .Their shows were plagued by animal rights groups and the show started to falter.Finally the last show was MAY 21ST 2017 at THE NASSAU VETERANS MEMORIAL COLISEUM.IT shut down for good after 146 years of performances.
