High School's New Location Will Be At University Of Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A new Bassick High School will be constructed at the University of Bridgeport, adjacent to and including its soccer field, The Connecticut Post reported. The city will purchase 6.29 acres of land for $6 million a year, then lease the three-acre soccer field for $1 per year.

Plans have been in the works since 2018 to replace the 91-year-old Fairfield Avenue high school, but the city had trouble finding a good location. The state's legislature has approved $115 million for the project.

The new school is anticipated to open in 2022-2023 school year, according to The Post.
