Homes For The Brave Opens Annex In Downtown Bridgeport

The Homes for the Brave Annex officially opened on Wednesday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Homes for the Brave (HFTB) is pleased to announce that it has expanded its offerings by adding an Annex in downtown Bridgeport, CT. The Homes for the Brave Annex officially opened on June 22, 2022 with a Ribbon Cutting and Open House. The Annex will serve area Veterans, and their families, through programs and services such as the Tony Cinquanta Veterans Service Center, HFTB Training for Success Vocational and Educational Program, and the HFTB Clinical Program. The location will provide essential and individualized services to respond to the needs of Veterans and their families in the Greater Bridgeport area.

The Tony Cinquanta Veterans Service Center helps any Veteran who is at risk of or is currently experiencing homelessness. Ways in which HFTB assists include: immediate basic needs assistance; referrals to housing and other supportive services; life skills seminars; computer classes; and opportunities to interface with federal legislators.

The Homes for the Brave Training for Success Vocational & Educational Program assists Veterans with resume writing, interview preparation, job search, connecting to education and job benefits and will support in various other ways to assist Veterans with increasing their financial resources.

“We have found that with improved access to educational and vocational opportunities, the Veterans we serve are better able to secure and retain employment that will enable them to support themselves and their families, and avoid returning to homelessness.” said HFTB CEO Vince Santilli.

The Homes for the Brave Veterans Clinical Program launched in January 2019 and Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) Dr. Stephanie Lynam provides oversight of all clinical programs. This program offers therapists who are available for mental health services and programming includes access to recovery-oriented individual and group therapy to address the mental health and substance abuse needs of Veterans and their family members in the Greater Bridgeport area.

Homes for the Brave continually partners with State and Federal resources in the fight against Veteran homelessness. American Rescue Plan Act Funding has allowed us to expand our services to area Veterans and their families to further support the community in the fight against Veteran homelessness. Any Veteran and/or family member who is homeless or experiencing housing instability can utilize our programs and services at the Annex. Together with community agencies we will continue to serve the Veteran and their family to improve housing stability, reduce episodes of homelessness, increase access to services, and advocate for affordable housing.
