Homicide Victim Discovered Hours After Shooting, Bridgeport Cops Say
The victim was discovered Thursday morning on Denver Avenue; he had been shot Wednesday night.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Police are investigating a homicide Thursday, after a 25-year-old Bridgeport man was found dead on Denver Avenue, according to authorities.
The identity of the victim has not been released, but he was found at about 8:30 a.m., positioned on the ground between a vehicle and the side of a house in the 100 block of Denver Avenue.
"Medics responded and pronounced the man deceased at the scene," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. Officers secured the crime scene and notified the Detective Bureau."

Gilleran added, "Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim."
On Wednesday at about 8:15 p.m., Bridgeport Police responded to the same block following a ShotSpotter activation. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system used by the department; once gunshots are fired in an area covered by this service, police receive a notification within one minute directing them to the location of the gunfire.

At the time, officers "collected several items of evidence, conducted interviews, canvassed the area, and documented their investigation," but the victim was not found until the next morning.
Detectives have taken charge of the investigation, and are quickly developing leads.
As a result of the investigation, Denver Avenue, between Fairfield Avenue and Denver Court, will be closed to traffic until this evening.
