Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut Salutes Local Business Leaders

Four area business leaders, one educator and one volunteer are honored at JA's Hall of Fame gala on October 4th in Bridgeport.

Four business leaders will be honored at Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut's 2016 'Dr. George R. Dunbar Free Enterprise Hall of Fame’ event on October 4th, 2016 at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport.

This year’s prestigious honorees are: Jack Barnes, President & CEO of People's United Bank, Traci Morris, CEO of Brookfield Global Relocation Services, John Stafstrom Jr., Member, Pullman & Comley and Philip White, CEO of Better Packages.

The Hall of Fame recognizes business leaders who have made outstanding and enduring contributions in the area of private enterprise and who have also demonstrated exceptional dedication to their communities. This year's honorees exhibit business excellence, vision and innovation, inspiring leadership and community mindedness.

"The personal and professional success of our four honorees are examples of the opportunities that our free enterprise system can provide," says Junior Achievement president, Bernadine Venditto. "We hope their stories of entrepreneurial success will be an inspiration to our students."

Junior Achievement will also present the Outstanding Educator Award to Bethel High School teacher, Monica Black, and the Outstanding Volunteer Award to Jennifer Brand from Prudential Annuities. Both award recipients are long-time advocates of Junior Achievement.

This year's Hall of Fame event will launch Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut's 70th Anniversary. This coming year, the program will reach more than 22,600 students in western Connecticut. Junior Achievement's programs provide age-appropriate activities on personal finance, college/career readiness and entrepreneurship.

This year's Hall of Fame event title sponsors are R.D. Scinto and People’s United Bank.
