Man, 37, Dies In Bridgeport Shooting After Being 'Singled Out:' Police

The shooting was reported on Spring Street Wednesday evening, after which officers found the man lying in the street.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 37-year-old Bridgeport man is dead following a shooting in the 100 block of Spring Street late Wednesday afternoon, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

The shooting was reported at 5:45 p.m., after which officers found the man lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he died a short time later, according to police.

"The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was singled out and shot several times," police said in an update overnight Thursday.

Investigators believe the suspect fled the scene in a gray 4-door Chevy sedan headed southbound on East Main Street.

The Detective Bureau’s Identification Unit has processed the crime scene, and the area is now clear of police activity. Spring Street is open to the normal flow of traffic.
