Man Critically Wounded In Bridgeport Shooting: Police

The shooting occurred Wednesday night on Park Avenue in Bridgeport, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A man was listed in critical condition in an area hospital after he was shot in the head in the 1200 block of Park Avenue in Bridgeport Wednesday night, according to police.

The shooting occurred just before 7 p.m., and police were notified of the incident by calls from citizens and an alert from the city's ShotSpotter gunshot detection service.

The victim was quickly located by officers, and he was transported to the hospital by emergency personnel.

Detectives are investigating in the Park Avenue area between Laurel and Wood avenues.

"Multiple items of evidence have been observed at the scene," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "Those items, and more, will be collected and processed by the Police Department’s Forensic Identification Unit."
