Man Faces 20 Years In Illegal Reentry Case
A Dominican national is facing 20 years in prison following an arrest for assault.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Dominican national has pleaded guilty to illegal reentry after he was arrested on assault charges, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Placido Santiago, 62, was arrested November 6, 2018, in Bridgeport on an assault charge.
Previously Santiago was deported to the Dominican Republic in 2006 after he was convicted in Massachusetts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
At sentencing, which is not yet scheduled, Santiago faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years.

This matter is being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Maria del Pilar Gonzalez.
