Man Pleads Guilty To Rape
The man offered to let a snowbound woman stay at his home, but he sexually assaulted her instead.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport man will be sentenced to eight years in prison after he beat and raped a Guilford woman who got caught in a winter snowstorm.
Jefferson Sumpton, 49, pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint, according to the Connecticut Post.
A woman called police from a diner to report the assault. Police noted she had finger marks around her neck.

She told police that she got caught in a storm Feb. 1, 2015 and was unable to get to the train station. She met Sumpter at the diner and he offered to let her stay with him until the storm calmed down. He then assaulted her when they went to his home.
