Mask Mandate Ends Next Week In Bridgeport Schools
If coronavirus cases increase in a specific school, students and staff may briefly again be required to wear masks, the superintendent said.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Face masks will be optional in Bridgeport schools as of next week.
The Bridgeport Board of Education voted last week to end the mandate in all city public schools starting March 31, according to a letter from Superintendent Michael Testani, who cited low levels of COVID-19 in the area.
Students are free to continue to mask, according to Testani, who urged all community members to stay home when sick. Should coronavirus cases increase in a specific school, students and staff may briefly again be required to wear masks in the building, he said.
