Missing Bridgeport Woman Dies

A missing elderly woman was found alive but later died.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — An 84-year-old woman who was missing for a week has been found but later died. Teresa Zangrilli suffered from Alzheimer's disease and diabetes.

Police said in a statement that Zangrilli was unresponsive when she was located at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in a patch of woods behind an office building at 12 Cambridge Drive, a business park on the Trumbull/Bridgeport town line.

It is approximately 1.5 miles away from where she went missing at the Price Rite supermarket on Upper Main Street on Oct. 18.

Zangrilli was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent's Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 12:27 p.m.

She was found by a Bridgeport resident who was volunteering to search for her.

The Connecticut State Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy. The investigation into her death is continuing.

She went missing Oct. 18 and a Silver Alert was issued. A wide-ranging search for Zangrilli was executed on foot, using police dogs, and via helicopter, according to The Connecticut Post.
