More Details Released On DMV Worker's Arrest

The DMV worker was arrested and placed on leave due to fake title transactions, police said.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Department of Motor Vehicles employee was arrested after he worked with an auto sales company to resell stolen vehicles, according to police.

The owner of Hartford Springfield Auto Auction reported to the DMV that Edgar Andrade, owner of Classic Auto Sales bought 135 cars, but didn't pay for any of them, according to the Connecticut Post.

Andrade left the country. DMV investigators traced nine of the cars which were re-registered using fake duplicate titles. Aarron Soares, 45, processed the fake transactions, police said.

He was charged with nine counts each of second-degree forgery, criminal liability for acts of another, third-degree larceny and third-degree computer crime.
