Child, 4, Critically Injured After Being Struck By Car: Bridgeport PD

Police said a mother was walking with her two young children when they were struck by a car.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 4-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle, police said.

At 8:49 a.m. Thursday, police received multiple 911 calls reporting an adult and two children struck by a vehicle in the area of Brewster Street and Fairfield Avenue, police said.

On-scene reports indicated that there was a motor vehicle accident involving a mother with their 4-year-old and 2-year-old children walking across Fairfield Avenue, police said.

"The striking vehicle did (remain) on-scene," police said in a news release. "Reports indicate that the 2yr old female suffered various scrapes and bruises that are listed as non-life threatening, the 4yr old male was transported to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. The mother was not injured."
