BRIDGEPORT, CT — Fairfield University and the Bridgeport Roman Catholic Diocese are considering putting a new two-year college in the former St. Ambrose Catholic School site in Bridgeport, reported the Connecticut Post.

The two have teamed up to create Bellarmine College, a two-year college for lower income students. The partnership recently withdrew a zoning application to place the school in the North End of Bridgeport on Jewett Avenue, reportedly in part due to concerns over traffic.

No decisions have been made about the former St. Ambrose site, which is on the corner of Mill Hill and Boston avenues. Currently, a portion of the building is occupied by the Capital Preparatory Harbor Charter School.
