New Summer Music Series In Downtown Bridgeport

From I LUV BPT: I LUV BPT will be hosting Downtown Thursdays, a weekly live music concert showcase this summer, from 5:30 to 9:00 PM, every Thursday starting July 12 through August 23, on the McLevy Green in Downtown Bridgeport. The final concert of the season will take place on August 23 at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.

The Downtown Thursdays program features local and regional musicians performing a variety of music, from Funk and Soul, to Salsa, to Old School Hip Hop/R&B. In addition to live music, the event will host a mix of retail and food vendors, as well as family-oriented games and activities.

This year marks the ninth anniversary of Downtown Thursdays, which draws thousands of people to Downtown Bridgeport each summer, and the third year I LUV BPT has orchestrated the event. Downtown Thursdays was originally managed by the Downtown Special Services District (DSSD), but when funding for the event ran out, DSSD handed ownership of the event over to I LUV BPT. Founded in 2013, I LUV BPT, is a branding and community development agency working together to positively shape the Bridgeport narrative through social engagement, economic empowerment, and cultural awareness. The group puts together projects and initiatives aimed at bolstering economic and social growth from within the city. Adopting and rebranding programs in danger of being lost, like Downtown Thursdays, is also a part of their focus.
