No Child Found In Ash Creek, Despite Report, Authorities Say

A person called 911 about a woman who had walked into Ash Creek and put something in the water, but nothing was found, officials said.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A child was not placed in Ash Creek by a woman, despite initial concerns to the contrary Monday, according to Bridgeport authorities.

About 1:30 p.m., a person called 911 about a woman who had walked into Ash Creek and put something in the water, a news release from Bridgeport police and firefighters said. First responders from Bridgeport and Fairfield searched the area of the creek that was identified by the caller, worried a child had been abandoned in the water, but nothing was found, said the news release, which noted that low currents and tides made for a quick search.

Police found the woman who was the subject of the call and she was taken to a hospital for evaluation, according to the news release. Authorities also spoke to the father of the woman's children and found they were safe and that the woman would not have access to any small children, the news release said.
