Eileen M. Gerst, 84, of Milford, formerly of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Carl Gerst, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2016.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on August 14, 1932, Eileen was the daughter of the late Maurice F. and Mary Ann Costello.She leaves behind her brother, Thomas Costello; her grandchildren, Caitlyn Few, Jack Few, and Alexander Leko; her daughter-in-law, Beth Gerst; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family, Garry and Sue DeZolt. In addition to her husband, Carl, Eileen was predeceased by her children, Carl Gerst, Margaret Leko and Gretchen Few; her siblings, John Costello, Ann Marie Spodnick and Margaret Murphy, and all their spouses; and a sister-in-law. Eileen enjoyed bingo and trips to the casino.

She devoted her time volunteering at the Senior Center and was a parishioner at Saint Ambrose prior to its closure. She was a fan of John Denver’s music, loved to laugh, and could always be found with a smile on her face. She will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure knowing her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford, CT. Interment to follow at Saint Thomas Cemetery, Fairfield, CT. Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street Milford, CT 06460.
