Obituary: Gary Drake, 77, Formerly Of Bridgeport

Gary Drake passed away at the age of 77, after a brief illness, on December 2nd, 2023 in Jupiter, Fl. He was born on November 18, 1946 in Bridgeport, Ct. and also resided in Fairfield. He graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport and went on to Salem College, Salem, West Virginia where he earned a Bachelor’s degree.

After graduation, he worked at the YMCA in Bridgeport, Ct before being drafted. He served in the US Army as a member of the military police in Germany. Upon completing his military service he returned to Fairfield, Ct. He started as physical education director at the opening of the Greater Bridgeport Mental Health Center until his retirement. After his retirement he spent the last 25 years in Jupiter, Fl.

He is predeceased by his parents, Christine and Eugene Drake and his wife, Andrea. He is survived by his loving sister, Gail Drake Lukasik and his brother-in-law Robert Lukasik of Naples, Fl.
Services will be held at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home on North Benson Road, in Fairfield, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 with calling hours from 9-11. Burial will immediately follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield, Ct.
