Obituary: Mircea Mike Docu, 76, Of Bridgeport

Mircea Mike Docu, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of November 17, 2023 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

He fought a host of painful medical issues for years, but his resilience allowed him to stay active in the lives of his family and be part of the local community. Mike was born in Romania in 1947 to Sotir and Elena Docu. He graduated from Polytechnic Institute in Bucharest where he studied engineering and worked for 25 years as a senior engineer in the defense industry.

Mike loved to sing and to entertain family and friends and he adored to share his rich life stories with his grandchildren and close family members. Mike was also part for several years of the Romanian Orthodox Church choir. In 1991, Mike immigrated to the United States with his family and for most of these years he worked 7 days per week to support his direct and extended family members. He dedicated his entire life to help others. Over his entire life, even though Mike dealt with ongoing health issues, he lived his life with constant positivity and undeniable desire to fight any obstacle life had to offer.

Mike is survived by his wife, Ioana, of 53 years; his sons, Dani and Cristian; four grandchildren, (Dany Jr., Alexander, Ioana and Cleopatra); and one honorary daughter, Marisa. Mike will be missed dearly by everyone, and his legacy will continue to live for years to come by sharing his life stories and keeping him in our thoughts and prayers.

A funeral service was held on November 21, 2023, at Holy Brancoveanu Martyrs Romanian Church in Fairfield. Burial followed at Mountain Grove Cemetery.
