Obituary: Richard Granville LaPierre, 83, of Bridgeport
During his retirement, he loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed walks at St. Mary's By the Sea in Black Rock.

Richard Granville LaPierre, 83, a longtime resident of Milford and Bridgeport and beloved husband of the late Luana LaPierre, passed away peacefully on August 7.
He was born in Fairfield, CT on December 14, 1932 to the late Joseph and Helen LaPierre. Richard was a devoted husband, father and Pepere.

He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in Germany with the occupation forces. He graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and worked as an automotive and industrial mechanic.
During his retirement, he loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed walks at St. Mary's By the Sea in Black Rock. His great interests in life were reading and history and he was a life-long follower of baseball, an avid New York Mets fan. He was a great story teller and a friend to all who knew him.

He was also a friend of Bill Wilson.He is survived by his two brothers, Joseph LaPierre of North Carolina and Roland LaPierre and his wife Huguette of Fairfield; three children, Francine LaPierre of Waterbury, Marc LaPierre and his wife Jacqueline of Stratford, Charles LaPierre and his wife Millie of Vermont; step-son Timothy Flanders of Stratford; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Saint Ann Church, 481 Brewster St., Bridgeport, CT. Interment will follow at Milford Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT. To leave memorial contributions, donations can be made to St. Vincent's Medical Foundation SWIM Across the Sound by mail at 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT.
