She was a positive, energetic, practical, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Shirley Jean Johnson passed away at the age of 92 in Bridgeport, Ct, on May 19, 2023.
She was born in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, on July 12, 1930, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1952, where she met her husband. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Richard E. Johnson, in August 2015. She lived in Weston for over 40 years before moving to Branford

After college and a brief career, she devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a positive, energetic, practical, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid traveler and visited many countries during her long and full life, most recently, a 10-day trip to London in 2018. Her other interests included reading, knitting, cooking and entertaining, and going to the beach with family and friends.
She had many dear friends over the course of her long life and was a beloved member of the Watermark community at 3030 Park Avenue in Bridgeport, CT, where she resided over the last eight years of her life. The family would like to acknowledge the dedication, patience, kindness, and care given to Shirley by the Watermark Memory Care staff.

She is survived by her children Jeff Johnson (Ann) of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Kaye Johnson of Bridgeport, CT and Mark Johnson (Amy) of Fairfield, CT; six grandchildren: Matthew (Rachel), and Carley Johnson, Julia and Kristen Liburdi, and Jack and Henry Johnson; and one great-grandchild, Max Johnson.
A celebration of her life will be had at Norfield Congregational Church in Weston, CT, on June 23, 2023, at 11 am. Friends are invited to stay after the service and join the family for a reception.
