Bill's passion was sailing; he loved the sea. He was so proud to be a junior member of the Indian Harbor Yacht Club in Greenwich and crewed on a number of boats, including in the Newport to Bermuda races. He was finally able to live his dream of boat ownership when he bought a beautiful 43-foot Hinckley sailboat, which he named, "Margaree".

Bill is survived by his mother, Mary "Gay" Merritt of Greenwich, his sister, Linda Ennis and her husband Mark of Fairfield, and numerous cousins.
