Pedestrian Killed On Rt. 8: PD

Police are searching for the offending vehicle.

BRIDGEPORT — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 8 Thursday night.

Troopers were called about a pedestrian being struck around 8 p.m. in the area of exit 3 soundbound, police said.

The woman identified as Maria Mendoza-Robles, 54, of Bridgeport was trying to cross the highway when a dump truck struck her, according to the Connecticut Post.

Police continue to search for the dump truck involved, which is described as having a red or orange motor unit and a gray dump bed.
