Pet Killed In Apartment Fire In Bridgeport: Fire Department
Twelve people were temporarily displaced after the Monday night fire.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A pet was killed, and 12 people were temporarily displaced Monday night, after a fire damaged an apartment building at 1430 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport, according to fire officials.
No other injuries were reported in the blaze, which occurred after 9 p.m.
According to Scott Appleby, director of the city's Office of Emergency Management, the fire began in a third floor apartment, and extended to an adjoining apartment and attic area.

"Extended operation with many Fire companies due to heat and humidity," Appleby wrote in a statement.
The Red Cross is assisting the 12 displaced tenants; the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
