This piece is truly a masterpiece by POE.The movie version I am reflecting upon ''THE RED MASQUE OF DEATH''.starts off with a gala affair and a masked-ball with numerous guests ,friends of a prince.ALL goes well for a while then a large clock rings off the hourly time and the room goes silent with even the band stops playing.Everyone is quiet momentarily.Then when the clock goes silent the music resumes again and the guest mingle among them selves.Then a unexpected guest shows up in a costume that only can relate to the GRIMM REAPER in design .The prince takes his dagger and plunges toward the unwanted guest only to fall dead at the unwanted guests 'feet.AS the time lapses all the guests at the party die and the room fills with bodies of the dead with no real explanation to the viewer.Perhaps the unknown guest was a plague carrier come there to revenge the prince for some unknown reason..Perhaps POE intended the ending be figured out by the viewer or the reader of this strange tale.IT is up to the viewer or reader to decide just what the plot of POES' story really was after all.
