Missing Bridgeport Girl, 14, Found Safe: UPDATE

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport police have found Jayleen Burgos, 14, who was reported missing on March 30, and have returned her to her family.

She was found in New York City, but the department declined to elaborate on the circumstances of the discovery.

Bridgeport Police Captain Kevin Gilleran thanked the media for its help in finding Jayleen.

"There is no doubt that your media coverage, and the work of our law enforcement partners in both NY and CT, brought this case to a close," Gilleran wrote in a statement. "Specifically, NYPD Youth Coordination Officer Namely Holguin (48th Precinct) and BPD Detective Bureau Damien Csech who were both instrumental throughout this investigation."
