Preliminary Finding Issued In Child's Drowning Death In Bridgeport

The 3-year-old was found unresponsive in a small, children's pool on Saturday night.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — In a preliminary finding, Bridgeport police detectives said the death of a 3-year-old in Bridgeport Saturday night "appears to be an accidental drowning," according to Tiadora Josef, the city's Director of Public Information.

The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Orlando Street; the child had been "found unresponsive in a small 3-foot children's pool," Josef said.

"Upon arrival, first responders immediately began CPR and other life-saving measures on the child," Josef said. "The child was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital and later pronounced dead."

The Bridgeport Police Department said it was offering "condolences to the family and friends for this tragic loss."
