A Real American

Another theater from the past

Truly a blast from the past-an olde-THE AMERICAN THEATER.One of a few on the east side of BRIDGEPORT years ago.Opened around 1915 and closed JUNE 24 1964.Was taken over by THE STRAND AMUSEMENT COMPANY in 1929.Former location 1126 EAST MAIN STREET -BRIDGEPORT,CT.Another theater among many others that are gone.Another business lost in Bridgeport.Along with other theater closings here leaves an emptiness never to be filled. The golden memories of our past theaters is all we have left.
