Roughly 30 Gunshots Fired In Bridgeport Shooting; Victim Injured: PD
The shooting occurred Tuesday night on West Avenue, according to Bridgeport police.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 33-year-old Bridgeport man suffered wounds to his torso Tuesday night when he was shot multiple times during an incident on West Avenue, according to Bridgeport police.
The victim, whose identity was not released, is listed in stable condition at an area hospital with injuries that are not considered to be a threat to his life.
According to Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran, the shooting occurred just before 9 p.m., when police Lt. Sean Lynch, who was on patrol in the West Avenue area, heard multiple gunshots. A crime scene was subsequently located in the parking lot of 273 West Ave.

"Shortly after the Lieutenant heard shots fired, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a call(s) reporting a male victim had been shot and was already headed to an area hospital via private vehicle," Gilleran said in a statement. "That victim and the vehicle he was operating were located by police in the vicinity of Water Street and Fairfield Avenue near the Bridgeport Train Station. The vehicle was heavily damaged from gunfire and disabled."
The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Gilleran said that "multiple shooters involved in this incident, with approximately 30 rounds fired."
Bridgeport police detectives have taken charge of the criminal investigation, and multiple items of evidence were located, collected, and processed by the Police Department’s Forensic Identification Unit.
"Strong leads have been developed in the case," Gilleran said.
The Bridgeport Police Department is also asking for additional help in solving the crime, and urges anyone with information to contact the case officer, Detective Aaron Rivera, at 203-581-5179.
