Several Juveniles Injured In Bridgeport Shooting: Police

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A shooting incident Thursday afternoon in Bridgeport's West Side section left several juveniles injured, according to Bridgeport police.

Police were alerted to the incident at about 4 p.m. through 911 calls and a ShotSpotter Activation in the Laurel Avenue and Grove Street area. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system that alerts police when shots are fired in various parts of the city.

"Early reports indicate that all of the victims are juveniles," Bridgeport Police Det. Jeffrey Holtz wrote in a statement. "The full extent of their injuries is not known at this time."

Details of the incident were not immediately available, but the department's Patrol Division and the Detective Bureau are actively searching for the shooter, who authorities said initially who fled on foot.

The public is advised to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
