Shooting Investigation Underway In Bridgeport; 2 Apprehended: Police

The incident occurred Monday afternoon on Orchard Street, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — An investigation is underway in Bridgeport following a shooting incident Monday afternoon that resulted in the apprehension of two people, according to police.

The incident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. in the 120 block of Orchard Street; police were notified of gunshots by an alert by the Shotspotter detection system.

A vehicle was seen fleeing Orchard Street, and was tracked by police to Lafayette Square and Fairfield Avenue downtown, where the two individuals were apprehended.

No injuries were reported, but information on the two apprehended individuals has not been disclosed.

"This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information at this time," said Shawnna White, the city's Public Information Officer, in a statement.
