BEING born in BRIDGEPORT in 1943 I indeed have so many places and events that took place here over the years.I bet there are many older BRIDGEPORTERS who can remember some of these places and events listed below.LETS pretend for a moment we're BACK IN THE DAY.

Starting at MAIN STREET and CONGRESS who remembers CONGRESS CANDY .OF course how about THE LOEWS POLI THEATER and its'sister THE MAJESTIC.BOY these names bring back great days of mine when life was simple for me.I went to school ,did homework and on MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS the nights were spent downtown watching the hot rods cruise by with rock and roll music blasting from the car speakers and chasing what we called chicks.IT was great meeting friends downtown.I remember THE STRAND THEATER,THE GLOBE THEATER,THE LYRIC THEATER.THE best part was movies were cheap back then and generally you would see 2 movies,a news reel and cartoons.GOD those were the days alright.I remember HOLLAND BOWLING LANES and all the five and dime stores such as FW WOOLWORTH,HL GREENS,SS.KRESGEES,THE ARCADE etc.BOY if we could only turn back the clock and do it over again.WELL at least we have some memories.Things change with time and we have to move on although those days are gone I have to face reality that indeed they are part of BRIDGEPORTS'history.
