There is so much to be said about the late but great P.T.BARNUM.During the years with the circus sometimes people protested because of the sideshow freaks as they were called.Some people felt that BARNUM exploited those with disabilities.Barnum felt he was showing the patrons something that was worth the price they paid to venture in .IN 1868 bad luck plagued PT.BARNUM with a deadly fire destroying his museum in NEW YORK.Some people were glad it had burned down.
BARNUM had great successes though such as JENNY LIND the opera star who cost him a fortune to bring her here to AMERICA.Upon her arrival 30,000 people gathered to see the so called star discovered by PT.BARNUM.After 93 concerts JENNY LIND quit working with BARNUM.She was tired of his marketing schemes.LIND made BARNUM rich because of prior ticket sales to her shows.OF course CHARLES STRATTON[GENERAL TOM THUMB]made money for himself and BARNUM playing world wide and once performed for QUEEN VICTORIA in LONDON.TOM THUMB was a big stage star and learned to sing and dance at a young age.IN real life BARNUM and TOM THUMB were related.BARNUMS'circus lasted 146 years and then closed.The circus closed MAY21ST,2017.The GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH is now part of our history.
