Stratford Man Charged in Crash that Killed Bridgeport Woman

The man is accused of going through a red light and striking a pedestrian, who died as a result of the injuries.

Bridgeport, CT — A 26-year-old Stratford man has been charged in connection to a Bridgeport woman’s death in February after police say he drove through a red light and struck her while she was crossing the street, according to the Connecticut Post.

Daniel Tepfer of the Post reports Jerry Goncalves, of Main Street in Stratford, was arrested Monday on charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended driver’s license and failure to obey a traffic light.

The victim, Sandra Vilsaint, died on Feb. 10 at Bridgeport Hospital from head and chest injuries sustained in the crash. She was 31.
