Suspect In 2013 Murder Found With Gun In Bridgeport Traffic Stop: Cops
Raashon Jackson was pulled over on Route 8 North on Wednesday morning, and a handgun was found in his possession, state police said.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Raashon Jackson, reportedly set to go on trial for a second time in connection with a Bridgeport murder from 2013, was arrested by state police Wednesday morning with a loaded gun in his possession, according to authorities.
Jackson, 31, was pulled over by troopers at about 10:15 a.m. near Exit 3 on Route 8 North in Bridgeport.
"Through the course of the investigation, the registration was determined to be counterfeit and the vehicle was uninsured," state police wrote in a statement. "It was also discovered Jackson had a suspended CT driver's license. During the course of the traffic stop, a loaded firearm was located inside of the vehicle. Jackson fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by State Police in the immediate vicinity of Housatonic Avenue."

Jackson was convicted of murder in connection with the 2013 Bridgeport case, in which he was accused of shooting into a crowd, killing one and injuring several others. He was granted a new trial on a technicality, repored the Hartford Courant; he was out on a $1 million bond on Wednesday when he was arrested.
State police said Jackson, of New Haven, suffered minor injuries Wednesday in the foot chase.

He was charged with felony weapons and motor vehicle violations, and the passenger in the car, Crystal Gonzalez, 28, of Bridgeport, was also arrested and charged with felony weapons violations.
Jackson remains in custody, while Gonzalez has been released on bond. Both are scheduled to appear in court at later dates.
