Suspect Arrested On Attempted Murder Charge: Bridgeport Police

The suspect, who was taken into custody Wednesday morning, is accused of shooting a 24-year-old Bridgeport man, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 45-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested Wednesday on a charge of criminal attempted murder, and related violations, after Bridgeport police said he shot a local man in the head.

In addition to criminal attempted murder, Hommy Rodriguez was also charged with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a firearm.

Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran said in a statement that the victim, who was shot in the 1200 block of Iranistan Avenue, was listed in critical condition at an area hospital Wednesday night.

The shooting occurred at about 9:20 a.m., and Rodriguez was apprehended by K9 Officer Corey Baldwin and his K9, named "Ace," within minutes of the shooting.

Bridgeport police had been called to the area on a report of multiple people shooting at each other, with one victim being hit.
