Suspect Arrested In June 2023 Machete Attack In Bridgeport: Police

The suspect was taken into custody last week in Louisiana, according to Bridgeport police

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a June 2023 machete attack on the grounds of Central High School, according to Bridgeport police.

Gerald W. Valle was taken into custody in Pine Prairie, Louisiana, late last week and extradited back to Bridgeport. Details about the apprehension were not disclosed.

He was charged with the following:

  • First-degree assault
  • Criminal attempt first-degree assault
  • First-degree reckless endangerment
  • Third-degree assault

The incident occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on June 18, and left the victim with large stab wound to the abdomen.

Valle is being held in lieu of bail of $300,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on April 11.

"I would like to thank Bridgeport Police Detective Jose Bahr for his diligent work during this investigation, and the US Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force for assisting with the suspect’s apprehension," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement.
