Cops Investigate Machete Attack In Bridgeport; 2nd In A Month
This attack occurred Sunday night at Central High School in Bridgeport, according to authorities.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 26-year-old Bridgeport man suffered "a very large wound to the abdomen" Sunday night when he was attacked by a machete-wielding man at Central High School on Lincoln Boulevard, according to Bridgeport police.
The victim, who was taken to an area hospital following the 8:15 p.m. stabbing, is listed in critical condition, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran.
"The incident is reported to have occurred at the high school baseball field adjacent to John F. Kennedy Stadium," Gilleran said. "The victim was targeted and attacked with a machete by a Hispanic male who remains at large."

Gilleran added that "the victim is familiar with his attacker." Detectives are investigating.
Sunday's incident is the second machete attack in Bridgeport in less than a month.

The May 28 incident occurred on Waldemere Avenue near the "Diamond 10" baseball field in Seaside Park. Bridgeport police reported having a developed a strong lead in connection with the previous attack, an arrest has not been made.
